Today, 24 March, AquaMinerals delivered the first load of lime pellets to the Calcite Factory in Amsterdam. Here, the lime pellets, which are generated in the drinking water softening process, are transformed into new seeding material for this same softening process. A great example of circularity in the water sector!
The Calcite Factory has been set up by the drinking water company Waternet and the British company Advance Minerals. AquaMinerals supplies the pellets for processing to the factory and also looks after the sale of the seeding material and the resulting by-product. The aspiration of AquaMinerals is to supply as many drinking water companies as possible and have them seed with ‘Dutch Calcite’.
This first load will be used to test the installation, after which it will be definitively calibrated. Another step towards the factory’s completion and its opening on 13 April.
